The great thing about meditating is that you can do it anytime and anywhere. You can meditate inside or outside. In a public location or in a private setting. The options are endless and it’s up to you to decide how to carry out your meditation practice.

It’s very common to create a meditation room or sacred meditating space in the home. The main point behind creating a mediation space is to have a room that will promote relaxation and a sense of peace. What works for your friend or colleague might not necessarily work for you, so take the time to get in touch with yourself and figure out what suites you best!

It’s important to think about what colors evoke a sense of relaxation and calmness in you when creating your meditation room? Maybe it’s a calming color like lavender or blue. Maybe you like darker colors like burgundy or brown. Whatever it is, the choice is yours! Have fun with it and don’t be afraid to step outside the box to create a space that is uniquely yours. Color therapy is great because it explains how different colors and shades effect mood so be sure to research this.

And don’t forget about accessories and furniture when creating your meditation space. Do you want to sit on the floor, on a mat, on a chair, on a couch? Again, there are multiply options here so choose the one that’s best for you!

And don’t forget to think about lighting for your meditation room. Do you meditate best in the dark, in bright light or somewhere in between? Maybe candle light is the perfect lighting for you. Right now, you might now know what type of lighting you prefer so don’t be afriad to test out the different types of lighting until you find the one that suites you best!

Creating a meditation room will enhance your meditating experience and will allow you to reap all of the benefits of meditation in a calm, peaceful setting. And remember, there are many places to meditate and there is no right or wrong. There’s just a “right for you!”
