Memory Improvement Methods Based on Finding Your Best Learning Style

Our memory is so important since it helps us to keep those life events in our mind for the years to come. Of course when you remember a memory from 15 years before but you forget the grocery list, it can be so irritating. There are many who want to find a way that they can improve upon their memory. Well, there are actually things you can do to help other than just dealing with frustration over things you forget.

It’s important that we take a look at how things are learned before we get involved in methods for memory improvement. When you are involved in a new experience or you hear something new, the brain has to take that information and decode it. It takes the information and interprets it in certain ways. When you are focusing on something and you learn something new, the brain takes the information and files it.

It is much like putting information into a file cabinet that you open up. Once you want to remember that information again, the brain brings it out for you. It’s just like walking back to the filing cabinet and retrieving the file you put in there before.

More than likely you can remember when your memory was great and you probably were used to that. When we don’t work on keeping our brain in good shape and learning new ways that we can think, our memory skill may begin to slip a bit. Think of a dancer. While she may have spend time training for all her moves, when she stops training, she won’t be able to get out there and start performing if she hasn’t been practicing for many years. It’s like that with the memory as well.

One way to improve memory is to constantly be aware of all that is going on around you. Many people only half listen when other people talk to them. It is easy to focus on another thing that you need to do instead of what they say. Make sure you start focusing on what is going on around you so you can store it and bring it back up in the future.

When you get new information, work to associate it with something that you already know to make it easier to remember. There are a variety of different learning methods, so find the one that works out for you. There are some people that remember best when they have visual aids to help out. Others learn best from actually hearing things. When you figure out your own learning style, you can work on it further to help improve your memory.

If you don’t know something, find out more about it by researching it on your own. While it may seem difficult to learn, if you find a different way of learning it or a different explanation it may make more sense to you. Doing the research on something new helps you to acquire more knowledge, which will help you figure out which things you need to keep in your mind.

When you really want to ensure something is remembered, think about it and throw it around in your brain a few times. The more you repeat something in your mind, the better you’ll learn it and be able to recall it in the future. Using visual aids and even word association can help with your memory too. Use the various memory aids available to help improve your memory.

Learning to meditate will give you a positive attitude towards life and will make you much more prepared to successfully navigate the process of your own self development.

Of course, you have to start off on the right foot – begin thinking positively in general. Write down your goals on paper and look at them. Visualize achieving these goals one by one, moving down the list.

Learning meditation will enable you to reduce the stress which makes it difficult for you to make the tough decisions, have more energy thanks to better sleep and have the winning attitude you need to make all of your goals realities. You will find that your goals can really be achieved – and you will achieve them!

After setting your goals for your future, begin learning to meditate. For more information on the specific methods of meditation, you can look either online or at your local library.

You can also join a yoga group to learn some self development skills. These people are all there looking for the same thing as you are; they are trying to learn meditation in order to achieve better physical and mental health.

Joining a group will also let you meet new people and develop your communication skills – it is helpful to talk over your problems with others and it can be educational to listen to what they have to tell you. Learning meditation skills for personal development will help you to get in control of your life. You’ll feel better and you’ll be happy that you took the time to look into the necessary skills and practices for self development. Enjoy yourself and your new self-development skills.

Here is a 20 minute plan that can be practiced daily for you to begin living a new life.

Step One: Meditation -

Recline or sit and relax, both body and mind. This will help to bring them into harmony with each other – which is the idea of meditation. Then focus on an object which is in the room with you and forget everything else in your surroundings. You must learn to eliminate distractions from your mind to be successful in meditation.

Focus on your toes; try to put all else out of your mind and move up from there, concentrating on your legs. Keep moving all the way up to the top of your head and relax yourself as you go. You should feel some tingling in your body; this is normal and is the sign that your body is relaxing.

Step Two: Imagination and focusing -

Visualize yourself somewhere that you have always wanted to go, or somewhere that you have always wanted to be. Think about being alone; just by yourself with the breeze blowing through your hair. Use your powers of imagination to visualize this – this will relax your mind and free you from the stress of the day.

Step Three: Take 20 minutes

Using meditation to relax with meditation will take about 20 minutes out of your day and make you aware of your inner capacity for self-development. Meditation should be practiced at least once a day, twice daily if possible.
Relaxing via meditation will make you more aware of the stresses which cause you to make bad decisions. The consequences of these decisions will make you feel poorly about yourself – it’s a vicious cycle. Before you know it, you’ll be facing depression and all of its attendant side effects.

Take control of your life again by using the practice of meditation to improve your self-development capacity. Using materials which are available online, at your library and elsewhere, you can learn the skills needed to achieve your goals and be successful.

Sometimes we can all use some help – and today’s technological advances make it easier than ever to get the help you need. New information becomes available every day about the practice of meditation for you to improve your self-development skills.

When you get angry of stressed, take a step back, calm down and assess the situation. Use positive thinking and ask yourself why you are so upset in the first place. How can you make things better? Don’t let negative emotions rule your decision making process and cause you to lose control of the situation.

You can begin the process of meditation for self-development today. With each skill you learn, you’ll find that your quality of life will improve in all areas – at home, at work, everywhere!

Optimizing Your I.Q. and Maximizing the Brain’s Potential

Everyone has heard of an IQ test. The potential of the brain is called intelligence quotient or I.Q. These tests use the theories of unitary and multiple, which is believed to the two main theories when studying the brain.

Unitary refers to the part of the brain where the linguistic and mathematical capacities and confined them to that area. While the multiply theory include the parts of the brain that use visual/ spatial, musical/rhythmic, body/kinesthetic, interpersonal or intrapersonal development.

It has been determined that there is only three ways to increase your brains potential.

You first have to determine what you are good at. Very few people are good at everything. A person is considered intelligent whether their skill is derived from music, visual, body, or intrapersonal, intelligence.

Most people possess these skills and probably do not even realize it. If you are a creative person at heart, try your hand at writing, acting or singing.

You may be amazed at how well you do. Some people are born with in affinity for numbers; you may not think it is anything special, however others may. There are so many different areas in which you the potential excel.

Gymnastics, Dancing, building or designing, you do not know what you are capable of doing until you try. You get the most amazing feeling when you accomplish something you have never done before. If you do not even try, you are doing yourself a great disservice.

Very few people are classified as geniuses. A genius is a person who has extreme intelligence. Such people include Einstein, Mozart and Bach. These brilliant men accomplished greatness through their genius. This is not to say that you have to be a genius to be successful. It simply means that you should use your brain to the fullest extent that you can. The more you try to improve yourself, the more your brain will benefit from it. When you utilize your brains potential you can achieve anything. Using your will power can point you in the right direction.

Broadening your horizons will also increase your brains potential. This is not to say that you should sit down and study the encyclopedia. When you study, you are acquiring knowledge through all five senses- touch, taste, see, smell, and taste.

You want to learn from your experiences in life, and experience everything in life. You cannot do that by studying. This is an excellent way to increase the potential of your brain.

New skills can be learned everyday. Talent comes in two forms, either you are born with it or you learn it. The brain is like a sponge, ready to absorb everything that is brought to it. The old adage that practice makes perfect holds true.

It is not difficult to maximize the brains potential. Many people everyday do it without even realizing it.

By simply reading a book, or singing along to your favorite song on the radio, you can increase your brains potential.

There are many IQ tests that one can take; however, many people question the accuracy of these tests.

Overcoming Mental Hurdles

Thoughts are powerful. Words are powerful. When we are persistently being exposed to particular suggestions, and when we are continually being told particular things, then we are likely to accept them. More often than not, it results in us believing in these ideas in one way or another. These suggestions, this continuous barrage of remarks, compliments and criticisms of other people, molds our way of thinking because they are the foundations of who we become as we begin to believe in them.

Consider, for instance, what you were constantly told by your parents when you were a child. Have you noticed that you have either conformed to it, or made a conscious decision to rebel against what they bombarded you with?

However, I’m going to let you in on a secret; you can actually make negative “pre-programmed” thoughts work for you. Yes, it is possible. You can do this in one of two ways: you can struggle against these thoughts with positive self-affirmations, or you can use them to spur you on to disprove them.

Choosing positive self-affirmation is the easiest method. Whenever you hear yourself remembering your parents’ comments about “an A- never becoming an A+” then simply say to yourself, “I am a worthwhile person. I will excel, and I will achieve my goals in spit of everything. I will succeed”.

If the affirmation is not sufficient to raise your spirits, then begin listing your achievements. Remember your successes, no matter how small they were; they all matter. For example, the time that you were able to say “no” to your friends when they wanted you to go out partying instead of finishing your term paper was a victory. List all of the occasions that you showed that you had willpower and were determined to rise above your weaknesses.

The alternative that I mentioned is to use the power of your thoughts you drive you on to success. Whenever you remember your parents taking no notice of an A+ that you got for a paper because they wanted you to try out for the football or cheerleading team, then remember that their goals are not your own. Remind yourself that you are working towards success in the filed of YOUR choosing, and aim for that goal. Keep striding over the hurdles. Once you have cleared them, then you can look back on your achievement and give yourself a pat on the back. This will give you the motivation to face the next set of hurdles.
